The aim of the BONUS -research day is to increase the significance of substantial scientific research knowledge in the decision making processes. In order to increase this significance, close dialogue and common practices are needed among the scientific community, political decision makers and other actors in the society.

The goal of the BONUS-day is to promote and advance governance and operational procedures that are based on well researched sustainable development throughout the Baltic Sea area. The impact of these sustainable procedures is increased by identifying/introducing practical pilot projects that demonstrate the advantages that these procedures can offer to political decision makers, the business community and society as a whole.
